The EHD has received certification of its solid waste program from the California Integrated Waste Management Board. The EHD is the Local Enforcement Agency (LEA) for all solid waste matters in Modoc County.

The EHD has the responsibility of permitting and inspecting transfer stations and disposal sites. 

The Environmental Health Department responds to complaints regarding illegal disposal of solid waste in the County.
