Food Facility Inspections
Welcome to the Modoc County Environmental Health Food Facility Inspection web
page. Inspection reports will be available online soon. Inspection reports completed are on file and available for review
at the Environmental Health office at 202 West 4th Street in Alturas. This page contains inspection information for approximately
90 food facilities that have a permit to operate in Modoc County.
Permitted retail food facilties include restaurants,
bars, grocery stores, convenience stores and school cafeterias. All facilities are inspected by registered Environmetal Health
Specialists (REHS) for compliance with the California Retail Food Code(CRFC). The law is found in the California Health Safety
Code, beginning with section 113700.
All routine inspections are unannounced visits by REHS inspectors who observe
and check for proper food temperatures, food handling and storage, worker hygiene, facility sanitation and maintenance. Information
available on the inspection report includes ( in accordance with California Health and Safety Code 113947): name and address
of the food facility, identification of major violations, and date of the inspection or re-inspection. Minor violations that
do not pose imminent heath threats are also documented.
